As I read the article I wasn't too sure I was understanding the concept of film noir. thus far what I've concluded from the reading is that film noir is more or less a way of telling a story through a movie with mysterious and violent characteristics. The name "noir" by the French critics makes complete sense at this point because it means "black" in French, go figure. Although many directors like the style its not as popular with teens now a days,and the style from then to now has changed as times have change aswell. I hope I've grasped the basic idea of what the article and film noir are about; if I'm not quite there some clarification would be greatly appreciated.
